The world is split up into 6 main regions, the area shown in the demo is the first region of the full-game and acts as the tutorial region of sorts! Once you leave this region the game opens up, allowing you to explore multiple areas at your own pace, in any order you see fit.

Ell is currently getting distracted by making Mudborne (a spiritual sequel of sorts to APICO) that had a new demo released in 2024 and is scheduled to release in early 2025, after which Snacktorio's full release will be worked on.

It originally started as a gamejam entry for FletchFest 2023, with the theme of ‘pond’. Ell had always joked about ‘what if APICO but frog?’ before, and this seemed a perfect opportunity to play with the concept and how to take things in a new direction.

In the demo there’s only a few mushrooms just to ease people into the trait modifications, but there's a lot more strange mushrooms to find in the full-game with some challenging modifications to master!

Those are the main areas, but there’s also some other bits and bobs that’ll be included or expanded upon in the full game, such as:

Using the genetic keys of the new species you create you can unlock the paths between the waking and dreaming worlds, explore the land of those still hibernating, and embark on a journey to help restore the lost populations and find out what happened.

Mushrooms are the key component to changing the traits of the frogs you're breeding as you pass through generations by way of the magic muds you include in the nursery with the frogspawn eggs, so if you need to change a specific trait, be sure you've got the right kind of magic mud in as the tadpoles form. If not, you'll need to try again with a new bunch of frogborne eggs and a new batch of mud.

Related What Does Cozy Gaming Mean To You? To me, a cozy game is less about what you're doing and more about how it makes you feel. It doesn’t have to be all cute animals or farming fields (though those don’t hurt); if I can sink into it like a warm blanket, it’s cozy.

Be sure to place cultivators in water, mud, grass, and indoors, keeping them stocked with compost to catch Mudborne Game the conditions when they're just right. If a mushroom needs specific weather conditions to grow, you'll need to ensure that the proper equipment is both placed nearby and has the correct frog in place.

By leaving these boxes in a few different locations and keeping them consistently stocked with the right kind of compost for the job, you can safely walk away for a while and come back to find mushrooms have grown while you were away if conditions were right while you were.

Mudborne is being created by ellraiser, one half of the indie-dev studio, TNgineers. A spiritual successor of sorts to APICO, Mudborne instead focuses on genetic manipulation and generational puzzles to create and discover all sorts of frog species, with experimentation being encouraged.

Started in 2020, Ell always wanted to make video games - thanks to COVID of all things, a shift in working life meant they could actually make that dream a reality.

Keep in mind, though, that the placement of your composter is critical. Put your composter on the terrain where the mushroom you need grows, or you'll find yourself with a wealth of mushrooms you weren't trying to grow.

particular about their growing conditions! Not only will you need to check between the realms, since both worlds have their own mushroom variations (each of which comes with their own distinct trait modifiers).
